My Lifebushido Slideshow - For google website building contest

My Work at Home Journal

This week I entered a contest to create a Google website for Lifebushido. It was done "on the fly" as we weren't given much time - we had to see what we could do quickly.

It was the first time I had worked with the free google sites and I had alot of fun with it. What was weird is that I had been looking for an excuse to get in & try it out and check out their website builder. And wa la, here came an opportunity to do just that. ew la la

Here is the link for my entry:

My Google Site Contest Entry For Lifebushido

I am also looking forward to starting the Fall season with Great American Opportunities after a LONG waiting period. Thank God that the wait and the testing are over and I can get on to making some extra money with them this Fall! Indeed I feel grateful for this opportunity.

Great News on my Law of Attraction work: Today the Law of Attraction brought me a little bedside table for my "new" bedroom. I was upstairs working on the floor, which I've been working on getting refinished (long process) and was visualizing where everything would be going & was thinking "a little table would be nice to to put by the bed". Several hours later, I went to the grocery store, and in front of the Thrift Shop with a "free" sign was a little table that would fit right into my "new" bedroom!!! eh la la

Thank you Maritza Parra and your awesome 30 day Law of Attraction Inspiration Class !!!!

If you don't know about this "gem" of a FREE program - check of Maritza's site for details. She is just superb and makes learning fun.

Do You Remember
Skinny Dipping?
By Maureen Suggitt Copyright © 2006

Skinny dipping, oh yeah, I remember skinny-dipping. I’ve always felt lucky that I was born in 1961. It meant that I was able to catch the tail end of the baby boomers. And that meant that I got to grow up in the seventies. It was a great time - there was skinny-dipping, rock n roll, good times, and living life to the fullest.

So let’s talk about skinny-dipping. To me, skinny-dipping isn’t about swimming, and it’s not about how you look without your clothes. Skinny-dipping is all about freedom - complete and total freedom.

It is about abandoning your inhibitions, just taking your clothes off, running, jumping in, and getting wet. It’s not about feeling guilty that you are doing something naughty, but rather truly living in the moment. Naked and vulnerable, you tune in and become one with the earth, air, water, and sky. You become part of something bigger and greater. And that is a magnificent feeling.

And that feeling, is just how I feel about being self-employed. Although not always the easiest path, it is one of great personal satisfaction and self worth. To give up the "corporate world", I really had to become vulnerable, jump in and just get wet. And although I didn’t leave my clothes behind on the beach, I did leave behind the stability of a 9-5 environment, with structure, and benefits. But, here I am and overall, I love what I do and the freedom that comes from owning a home business.

Freedom, such a small word but oh, so powerful. And to have the independence to not only choose what you will do for a living, but also where you will do it is a privilege that I for one, do not take lightly. And I have chosen to work at home.

Welcome to my world, where my life is no longer 9-5. I wake up thinking of new ways to make money at home and often stay up well past midnight working on the computer, trying to find better ways to promote my new website. Or I may stay up painting or crafting items that I can sell. Bottom line, I am still making money to pay my bills and still have enough left over to do or buy the things I want. The biggest difference is that it no longer feels like work. For I have found a way to stay at home, and make money doing things that I love to do. And so can anyone who truly wants to.

I have found starting your own home business to be a lot like skinny-dipping. For instance, you can ease your way into the water slowly or you can just jump in. There will be people who belly flop and others who quickly head back to the safety of shore without ever looking back. And of course, there will always be the people who although they want to, never even try, they never even leave the shore.

But you can’t experience the true passion of freedom, from the safety of shore. So if you want to start your own home business or expand the one you already have, take a chance. I can’t guarantee that you won’t sink. In fact, even if you’re successful, you will probably do some backstroking along the way. But then - the day comes when you feel like you’re floating, and that is the day you come to understand what working for yourself is all about.

I am only now starting to realize just how much life really is like a bunch of old sayings. One of my favorites is "Only a dreamer can make dreams come true" (author unknown). So if you have the dream of a owning and running a home business, then take the first step, whether you ease yourself in or cannonball. Just do it!
And next time someone asks you what you do for a living or why you want to work at home, go ahead; feel free to use my words. "Do you remember skinny-dipping……."

I run a home business and about ½ of my workload comes from Shopping and Merchandising jobs. It combines the freedom of owning a home office with getting out into the public and doing assignments that I find to be fun. Here I get to combine my clerical skills with some skills and activities that feed my creative side. Do you have what it takes, are you ready to become a successful Mystery Shopper?

The Art of being a Successful Mystery Shopper
By Maureen Suggitt 2006©

You’ll Be Using Detective Skills: You’ve really got to like digging in and getting to the bottom of things. You should like to find out answers and report them. Here, being a snoop can be valuable skill. You’ll need to be observant and be aware of what is going on all around you. There will be shops where your ‘spy’ tricks may come in quite handy and in fact may even be considered ingenious.
Become an Actor/Actress: You should be able to read a script and role-play when needed. You will need to remember that you are to remain in character during your shop. If you are asked to play the part of a rabbit and purchase carrots, then Gaul darn it, you had better be the best rabbit in town. I’d be hoppin’ out of that store with the information and dangling the carrots.
Be Mysterious: Remember this is called Mystery Shopping. You won’t be able to tell everyone that you are a Shopper. Each company will require you to sign a confidentiality clause- that means not talking about what you are doing. You will belong to an elite group of other Shoppers who may be found meeting in secretive places called Forums. Sometimes they have been known to form an Internet ‘Ring’. But let’s not talk about that right now. Just remember to wear your shroud of mystery proudly, be mysterious, and keep your shopping secrets.
Love to Watch People: You may need to remember Jimmie, Johnie, Jane and Judy – who they were, what they did and what they looked like.
Think like Dick Tracy: He always got the story. Try to communicate what you saw and heard into your report. Try to remember your job is reporting, not fiction writing. Remember a good Reporter REPORTS.
Love to Shop or Eat Out: This is the type of work you should do because you love it, not because you think you’ll get rich. You’ll love this job a lot more if you pick the assignments that interest you, don’t just take a luxury hotel shop for the money if you’d be missing your family’s camping trip. If you’d rather be camping, then go camping. Trust me, always put the money offered for the shop in perspective before accepting an assignment. That way, when you accept a shop, you’ll be going in with a positive mind frame.
Be a Quick Study: Sometimes you will receive a lot of material to learn. You’ll need to be able to read through their material, learn it, and sometimes take a test before going on a shop. They are paying you, so they will be expecting you to know exactly what information you’ll be gathering. You Almost Have to Become a High Tech Geek: Yep, that means learning the new lingo, like IPOD, MP3, Laptop, Internet, email, downloads, uploads, oh no! Keep going, PDF files, faxing, digital imaging….I know, it sounds overwhelming, but don’t worry, you’ll be meeting and hanging out with your new buddy, PayPal.
And last but not least, Do It for the Love of It!
